According to Article 4(1) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”), “processing” means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, comparison or linking, restriction, erasure or destruction.

With the following data protection declaration, we inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration and legal basis of the processing of personal data, insofar as we decide on the purposes and means of processing either alone or jointly with others. Our privacy policy is structured as follows:

Notwithstanding this, the user has a right to information about these recipients.

Likewise, according to Art. 21 GDPR, users and data subjects have the right to object to the future processing of data concerning them, provided that the data is processed by the provider in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. In particular, an objection to data processing for the purposes of direct advertising is permissible.

III. Information on data processing

Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies, there are no statutory retention periods that prevent the deletion of the data and no other information is provided below regarding individual processing procedures.

subscription to articles

If you publish contributions on our website, we also offer you the opportunity to subscribe to any follow-up contributions from third parties. In order to be able to inform you about these follow-up contributions by email, we process your email address.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You can revoke your consent to this subscription at any time with future effect in accordance with Art. 7 Para. 3 GDPR. To do so, you simply have to inform us of your revocation or click on the unsubscribe link contained in the respective email.

Cookie Manager

To obtain consent to use cookies that are not technically necessary on the website, the provider uses a cookie manager.

When the website is accessed, a cookie with the setting information is stored on the user's device so that the user does not have to provide consent on subsequent visits.

The cookie is required to obtain legally compliant consent from the user.

The user can prevent or stop the installation of cookies by adjusting his browser settings.

cookies

a) Session cookies

We use so-called cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies that are stored on your device by the Internet browser you use. These cookies process certain information about you on an individual basis, such as your browser or location data or your IP address.

This processing makes our website more user-friendly, effective and secure, as the processing enables, for example, the reproduction of our website in different languages or the offer of a shopping cart function.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 (1) lit b.) GDPR, provided that these cookies process data for the purpose of initiating or executing a contract.

If the processing does not serve to initiate or execute a contract, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. The legal basis is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

When you close your Internet browser, these session cookies are deleted.

b) Third-party cookies

Our website may also use cookies from partner companies with whom we work for the purposes of advertising, analysis or the functionality of our website.

For details, in particular the purposes and legal basis for processing such third-party cookies, please see the information below.

c) Possibility of removal

You can prevent or restrict the installation of cookies by adjusting the settings on your Internet browser. You can also delete cookies that have already been saved at any time. The steps and measures required to do this depend on the specific Internet browser you are using. If you have any questions, please use the help function or documentation for your Internet browser, or contact the manufacturer or support. However, in the case of so-called Flash cookies, processing cannot be prevented via the browser settings. Instead, you must change the settings on your Flash player. The steps and measures required to do this also depend on the specific Flash player you are using. If you have any questions, please use the help function or documentation for your Flash player, or contact the manufacturer or user support.

However, if you prevent or restrict the installation of cookies, this may mean that not all functions of our website are fully usable.

competition

We offer you the opportunity to take part in competitions via our website. If you take part in one of our competitions, the data you enter when taking part will be processed without your further consent, but of course only for the purpose of carrying out and processing the respective competition.

As part of the processing of the competition, we will pass on your data to the transport company commissioned to deliver the goods or to a financial service provider if the transfer is necessary for the delivery or payment of your prize. If your data is published in the event of a win, you will be informed of this as part of the declaration of consent.

The legal basis for the transfer of data is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

You can revoke your consent to the processing of data for participation in our competitions at any time with future effect in accordance with Art. 7 Paragraph 3 GDPR. To do so, you simply need to inform us of your revocation.

contact requests / contact options

If you contact us via the contact form or email, the data you provide will be used to process your request. Providing the data is necessary to process and answer your request - without providing it, we cannot answer your request or can only answer it to a limited extent.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

Your data will be deleted if your request has been conclusively answered and there are no statutory retention periods that prevent deletion, such as in the case of any subsequent contract processing.

customer account / registration function

If you create a customer account with us via our website, we will collect and store the data you entered during registration (e.g. your name, address or email address) exclusively for pre-contractual services, for the performance of the contract or for the purpose of customer care (e.g. to provide you with an overview of your previous orders with us or to be able to offer you the so-called wish list function). At the same time, we then store the IP address and the date and time of your registration. This data will of course not be passed on to third parties.

As part of the further registration process, your consent to this processing will be obtained and reference will be made to this privacy policy. The data we collect will be used exclusively to provide the customer account.

If you consent to this processing, Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR is the legal basis for the processing.

If the opening of the customer account also serves pre-contractual measures or the fulfillment of the contract, the legal basis for this processing is also Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

You can revoke your consent to open and maintain a customer account at any time with future effect in accordance with Art. 7 Paragraph 3 GDPR. All you have to do is notify us of your revocation.

The data collected in this regard will be deleted as soon as processing is no longer necessary. However, we must observe retention periods under tax and commercial law.

newsletter

If you register for our free newsletter, the data requested from you, i.e. your email address and - optionally - your name and address, will be sent to us. At the same time, we save the IP address of the internet connection from which you access our website as well as the date and time of your registration. As part of the further registration process, we will obtain your consent to send you the newsletter, describe the content in detail and refer you to this privacy policy. We use the data collected in this process exclusively for sending the newsletter - it is therefore not passed on to third parties.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR.

You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time with future effect in accordance with Art. 7 Paragraph 3 GDPR. To do so, you simply need to inform us of your revocation or click on the unsubscribe link included in each newsletter.

user contributions, comments and ratings

We offer you the opportunity to publish questions, answers, opinions or evaluations, hereinafter referred to as "contributions", on our website. If you take advantage of this offer, we will process and publish your contribution, the date and time of submission and any pseudonym you may use.

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time with future effect in accordance with Art. 7 Para. 3 GDPR. All you have to do is inform us of your revocation.

In addition, we also process your IP and email address. The IP address is processed because we have a legitimate interest in initiating or supporting further steps if your contribution infringes on the rights of third parties and/or is otherwise unlawful.

The legal basis in this case is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the legal defense that may be necessary.

Online job applications / publication of job advertisements

We offer you the opportunity to apply to us via our website. With these digital applications, your applicant and application data will be collected and processed electronically by us to handle the application process.

The legal basis for this processing is Section 26 Paragraph 1 Sentence 1 BDSG in conjunction with Article 88 Paragraph 1 GDPR.

If an employment contract is concluded after the application process, we will store the data you submitted during the application process in your personnel file for the purposes of the usual organizational and administrative process – of course in compliance with any further legal obligations.

The legal basis for this processing is also Section 26 Paragraph 1 Sentence 1 BDSG in conjunction with Article 88 Paragraph 1 GDPR.

If an application is rejected, we automatically delete the data sent to us two months after notification of the rejection. However, the data will not be deleted if the data requires a longer storage period of up to four months or until the conclusion of legal proceedings due to legal provisions, e.g. due to the burden of proof under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).

The legal basis in this case is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR and Section 24 Para. 1 No. 2 BDSG. Our legitimate interest lies in legal defense and enforcement.

If you expressly consent to your data being stored for a longer period, e.g. for your inclusion in an applicant or prospective customer database, the data will be further processed based on your consent. The legal basis is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. However, you can of course revoke your consent at any time in accordance with Art. 7 Para. 3 GDPR by notifying us with effect for the future.

creditworthiness and scoring checks

If we offer you the basic option of paying by invoice as part of our range of goods or services and you make use of this, we reserve the right to obtain a credit report from a credit agency (such as Creditreform, Schufa, Bürgel or infoscore) based on mathematical and statistical procedures. To do this, your data, insofar as it is relevant to the contract, such as your name and address, will be forwarded to the credit agency. We use the subsequent information on the statistical probability of a payment default to decide whether to offer you payment by invoice.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in the reliability of the claim in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

server data

For technical reasons, in particular to ensure a secure and stable Internet presence, data is transmitted to us or to our web space provider through your Internet browser. These so-called server log files collect, among other things, the type and version of your Internet browser, the operating system, the website from which you accessed our Internet presence (referrer URL), the website(s) of our Internet presence that you visit, the date and time of each access, and the IP address of the Internet connection from which you access our Internet presence.

The data collected in this way will be stored temporarily, but not together with other data about you.

This storage is carried out on the legal basis of Art. 6 Paragraph 1 Letter f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the improvement, stability, functionality and security of our website.

The data will be deleted after seven days at the latest, unless further storage is required for evidentiary purposes. Otherwise, the data will be wholly or partially exempt from deletion until the incident has been finally resolved.

contract execution

The data you provide to use our range of goods and/or services will be processed by us for the purpose of contract execution and are necessary for this purpose. Contract conclusion and contract execution are not possible without the provision of your data.

The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

We delete the data once the contract has been fully processed, but we must observe the retention periods under tax and commercial law.

As part of the contract processing, we will pass on your data to the transport company commissioned to deliver the goods or to the financial service provider, insofar as the transfer is necessary for the delivery of the goods or for payment purposes.

The legal basis for the transfer of data is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b) GDPR.

We use the plug-in of the social network Facebook on our website. Facebook is an internet service of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland.

For technical reasons, it is necessary for Facebook to process your IP address. In addition, the date and time of your visit to our website are also recorded.

If you are logged in to Facebook while visiting one of our websites with the plug-in, the information collected by the plug-in about your specific visit will be recognized by Facebook. Facebook may assign the information collected in this way to your personal user account there. If you use the so-called "Like" button on Facebook, for example, this information will be saved in your Facebook user account and possibly published via the Facebook platform. If you want to prevent this, you must either log out of Facebook before visiting our website or use an add-on for your Internet browser to prevent the Facebook plug-in from being blocked from loading.

Only then will the respective social network record information about the usage process. If you are logged into one of the social network services while you visit one of our websites with the corresponding plug-in, the provider of the respective social network may be able to recognize the information collected in this way about your specific visit and assign it to your personal user account or publish it there. If you use the so-called "Share" button of the respective social network, for example, this information may be stored in your user account there and published via the platform of the respective social network provider. Usage and user-related information, such as IP address, location, time or frequency of visits to our website, are transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, we use Google Analytics with the so-called anonymization function. With this function, Google shortens the IP address within the EU or EEA.

The data collected in this way is then used by Google to provide us with an evaluation of visits to our website and the usage activities there. This data can also be used to provide other services related to the use of our website and the use of the Internet.

The add-on tells the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) that information about visits to our website should not be sent to Google Analytics. However, this does not prevent information from being sent to us or to other web analysis services. Of course, you can also find out whether and which other web analysis services we use in this privacy policy.

Tracking pixel of the collecting society WORT (VG WORT)

On our website we use the so-called VG WORT tracking pixel of the provider INFOnline GmbH, Forum Bonn Nord, Brühler Str. 9, 53119 Bonn, in the form of the so-called SZM (Scalable Central Measurement Method).

The legal basis is Art. 6 Paragraph 1 Letter f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the optimization and economic operation of our website as well as in taking into account copyright interests with regard to the content of our website.

The tracking pixel is a graphic that is placed on our website and determines statistical key figures. This makes it possible to calculate the probability of copying texts based on the number of visits and the specific content of our website. This data is collected anonymously. In order to be able to record the number of hits and your possible recurring visits, either a so-called session cookie is stored on your device by your Internet browser or a signature that is created from various information from your Internet browser (e.g. user agent, screen resolution, etc.) is used. However, your IP address is only processed in an anonymized form. You cannot be identified as an individual user at any time.

If you do not agree to this processing, you have the option of preventing the storage of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your Internet browser. You can find more information about this above under "Cookies". In addition, you have the option of ending the SZM measurement by means of the so-called opt-out. By confirming the link

https://optout.ioam.de/

a cookie will be stored on your device via your Internet browser, which prevents further analysis. Please note, however, that you will have to click the above link again if you delete the cookies stored on your device.

Adobe Typekit

To display the font design, external fonts from “Adobe Typekit”, a service of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited, 4-6 Riverwalk, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24, Republic of Ireland, hereinafter “Adobe”, are used.

When you access the provider's website, a connection is established to the Adobe server in order to enable the font to be displayed or updated. In this case, data may be transferred to servers in the USA.

_____________________

However, in the opinion of the data protection supervisory authorities, the USA does not currently have an adequate level of data protection. Therefore, so-called standard contractual clauses exist between the provider and Adobe for the transfer of data to third countries:

https://www.adobe.com/de/privacy/eudatatransfers.html

However, these are private law agreements and therefore have no direct impact on the access options of the authorities in the USA.

_____________________

The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The provider's legitimate interest lies in the optimization and economic operation of the website.

Through the connection, Adobe can recognize which website a request is sent from and to which IP address the font display is sent.

Adobe offers further information, in particular on the options for preventing data usage, at the following links:

https://www.adobe.com/de/privacy.html

Integration of the Trusted Shops Trustbadge / other widgets

We use the Trusted Shops “Trustbadge” to display the Trusted Shops seal of approval and any reviews we may have received as well as to promote the services offered by Trusted Shops after an order has been placed.

“Trustbadge” is a product of Trusted Shops GmbH, Subbelrather Str. 15C, 50823 Cologne, for which we are jointly responsible for data protection with Trusted Shops GmbH in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR.

The use serves to safeguard our legitimate interests, which prevail within the framework of a balancing of interests, in optimal marketing by enabling secure shopping in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 Clause 1 Letter f of GDPR.

The Trustbadge is provided by a US CDN (Content Delivery Network) provider as part of a joint responsibility. An appropriate level of data protection is ensured by standard data protection clauses and other contractual measures. Further information on data protection at Trusted Shops GmbH can be found at the following link: https://www.trustedshops.de/impressum-datenschutz/#datenschutz

When the website is accessed, the Trusted Shops web server records the visitor's IP address, the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider (access data) in order to display the information accessed. In addition, the web server automatically saves a so-called server log file, which also contains the IP address, the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider (access data) and documents the access. The IP address is anonymized immediately after collection so that the stored data cannot be assigned to the visitor. The anonymized data is used in particular for statistical purposes and for error analysis.

After the order has been completed, the email address specified in the order will be sent to Trusted Shops GmbH. The data is transferred using a cryptographic hash function, so that it is not possible to reconstruct the email address from the generated hash.

The legal basis for the transfer is Art. 6 Paragraph 1 Clause 1 Letter f of GDPR. The transmission serves to check whether the visitor is already registered for services with Trusted Shops GmbH and is therefore necessary for the legitimate interests of the provider and Trusted Shops GmbH in providing the buyer protection and transactional evaluation services linked to the specific order.
If you are already registered for Trusted Shops GmbH services, further processing will be carried out in accordance with the contractual agreement concluded between you and Trusted Shops GmbH. If the visitor is not yet registered for the services, he or she will be given the opportunity to register. Further processing after registration is also based on the contractual agreement with Trusted Shops GmbH. If the visitor does not register, all transmitted data will be automatically deleted by Trusted Shops GmbH and personal reference will then no longer be possible.

Trusted Shops GmbH uses service providers in the areas of hosting, monitoring and logging. The legal basis is Art. 6 Paragraph 1 Letter f of GDPR for the purpose of ensuring trouble-free operation. Processing may take place in third countries (USA and Israel). An appropriate level of data protection is ensured in the case of the USA through standard data protection clauses and other contractual measures and in the case of Israel through an adequacy decision.

As part of the joint responsibility between us and Trusted Shops GmbH, you can preferably contact Trusted Shops GmbH with data protection questions and to assert your rights using the contact options provided in the data protection information linked above. Regardless of this, you can always contact the responsible party of your choice. The request will then be passed on to the other responsible party for response if necessary.

Klarna "CHECK-OUT"

To process payments for orders placed via our online shop, we use the payment service of Klarna Bank AB, Sveavägen 46, 111 34 Stockholm, Sweden, hereinafter referred to as “Klarna”.

For this purpose, we have integrated Klarna's so-called checkout into the final order page of our online shop.

The legal basis is the performance of the contract in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. In addition, we have a legitimate interest in offering effective and secure payment options, so a further legal basis follows from Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

By integrating Klarna, your internet browser loads the check-out page from a Klarna server. This means that the operating system you are using, the type and version of your internet browser, the website from which the check-out was requested, the date and time of the visit and the IP address are transmitted to Klarna - even without you interacting with the check-out page.

As soon as you complete the order in our online shop, the data you enter in the input fields on the checkout page will be processed by Klarna at its own responsibility to process the payment.

For the payment methods “PayPal” and “Prepayment” offered, processing is limited to the transfer of payment data to us or PayPal without your further consent.

For the payment methods offered “purchase on account”, “installment purchase”, “credit card”, “direct debit” or “instant transfer”, the following personal data in particular are processed by Klarna for the purposes of payment processing and identity and credit checks:

– Contact information such as name, address, date of birth, gender, email address, telephone number, mobile number, IP address, etc.

– Information for processing the order, such as product type, product number, price, etc.

– Payment information, such as debit and credit card details (card number, expiration date and CCV code), billing details, account number, etc.

If you select the payment method "purchase on account" or "installment purchase", Klarna collects and uses personal data and information about your previous payment behavior to decide whether you will be granted the desired payment method. In addition, probability values for your future payment behavior (so-called scoring) are used. The scoring is calculated on the basis of scientifically recognized mathematical and statistical procedures.
